Updated Clinical Resources in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Smoking is the most common preventable risk factor for pregnancy complications. Quitting can reduce the risk of adverse outcomes for women and their babies.

Non-pharmacological interventions such as multi-session behavioural intervention (e.g. Quitline) are first line therapy, and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) may be additionally considered following a discussion with patients about the risks and benefits of NRT use.
