Webinar recording: Navigating vaping reforms
The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) hosted a webinar on 26 September 2024 that provided an overview of the upcoming regulatory changes and PSA's roadmap for pharmacists to confidently navigate these reforms.
From 1 October 2024, vaping products with nicotine concentrations of 20 mg/mL or less can be supplied without a prescription to individuals 18 years or over, subject to pharmacist assessment and guidance.
Expert speakers, including Quit Centre's GP Lead Dr Eileen Cole, spoke about what the changes mean in terms of approval pathways, sourcing, dispensing therapeutic vapes and how these changes are to be implemented in practice.
Webinar recording: Clinical Conversation - Smoking Cessation Supports in Pregnancy
Safer Care Victoria presented a clinical conversation exploring smoking cessation supports in pregnancy. Presenters were Dr Eileen Cole and Pharmacist Jennifer Kyi from Quit Centre, as well as Prof Megan Passey from The Daffodil Centre.
Discussion covered effective screening and assessment of nicotine replacement therapy, provision of initial counselling which is culturally safe for Indigenous and Torres Strait women, and an understanding of Quit services.
